Ashooh releases new web video with “Debt and Deficit” theme
Stresses need to balance nation’s checkbook, not burden our children with massive debt
With a playground full of children as his backdrop, Congressional candidate Rich Ashooh released a new web video today entitled, “Balancing our Nation’s Checkbook”. The piece highlights the country’s $13 trillion dollar debt, deficit spending and the need for bold new leaders to turn the situation around.
Commenting on this latest video Ashooh said, “I think it’s important to talk about the damaging effects that our debt and Washington’s nineteen straight months of deficit spending are having on our economy, but also to frame the problem in terms of what it means for our children and grandchildren’s futures. If we want our kids to be able to enjoy the same strong America our parents gave us, then we need to cut out of control spending, balance our nation’s checkbook and quit stacking trillions of dollars of debt on their backs.”
Transcript:
Thirteen trillion dollars - that’s how deep our nation is in debt. And the reason? We’ve had a record setting 19 straight months of deficit spending.
For 19 months Washington has spent more than it’s taken in. Never in our history has our deficit spending been so high or gone on for so long. Not even during the Great Depression or World War II.
We need to eliminate our debt. We need to pay it down, just like a credit card. Families across New Hampshire understand this but Washington seems to have forgotten how to balance its own checkbook.
We all are going to pay the prices for this out of control spending. But you know who’s really going to be hurt. It’s our kids and grandkids. Our national debt is ballooning and its shortchanging their future. We’re stacking trillions of dollars of debt on their backs and it’s just not right. Especially if we want them to inherit the kind of nation our parents gave us.
But here’s the good news, we can turn this around. But it will take bold new leadership and hard choices. And the longer we wait the harder the choices become and the more limited our options will be. But won’t it be worth it? After all, it’s our kids we’re talking about.
